Volunteer Brenda Branscome digs around the foundation (south corner) of the first Anglican Church at Elk Run, which dates to the mid-1700's, on Saturday, August 28, 2004. She uses an ordinary hand-sized broom to loosen and clean debris from exposed stones. Items of interest that she finds are bagged and catalogued for future reference. Mostly the volunteer archeologists merely find bits of brick, glass and nails, but sometimes they get lucky and find coins, arrowheads, and plaster from the stone church.
